The 17th HCL International Bridge Championship will be held from August 05 - 10, 2019. The championship will have the following:

  • Naresh Tandan Trophy

    The 'Naresh Tandan Trophy' for the winners of Team of Four Gold event.

  • Mohini Tandan Trophy

    The 'Mohini Tandan Trophy' for the winners of Team of Four Silver event.

  • HCL Rising Stars Trophy

    The 'HCL Rising Stars Trophy' for the winners of Team of Four Bronze event.

  • Neena Bonarji Trophy

    The 'Neena Bonarji Trophy' for the winners of Open Pairs event.

    Team of Four Gold Event is open to all.

    The qualifying round consists of Swiss League of 10 Rounds of 10 Boards each on first two days.

  • Team of Four Silver
    Team of Four Silver Event is open to Indian Bridge players (participation of Foreign teams in this event is subject to clearance by Technical Committee).

    Team of Four Bronze Event is open to Indian Bridge players only.

    Open Pairs Event is a match pointed pairs event which will start on third day of the tournament and will be played over 4 days.

The tournament format and time schedules are subject to change, before or during the championship, and at the discretion of the organizing committee. This decision will be taken in consultation with the Chief Tournament Director (CTD).

SYSTEM & IMPORTANT NOTES

The tournament will follow the WBF 2019 Laws of Duplicate Bridge as amended from time to time. The Applicable Supplemental Conditions of Contest shall be circulated before the start of the tournament. WBF system policy shall be followed throughout the tournament. The Brown Sticker Conventions are not allowed in the Swiss League Stage of Team of Four Event and in Elimination Stage of Pairs events. The pairs employing Brown Sticker Conventions in the knock-out stage of Team Events must submit their convention with written defense to the CTD before the start of the last round of Swiss League Stage. Multi 2D is allowed, provided a written defense against the convention is provided to the opponents before the start of the round. Psyche of a conventional bid and artificial strong bid is not permitted at any stage of any event. Psyches are not permitted during Swiss League Stage of Team of Four Silver& Bronze Events and Elimination 1 & 2 stage of Open Pairs Event.

Applicable Supplemental & Conditions of Contest

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In SILVER event, a team can have only one "National Master and above" level player.
  • All foreign teams will participate in the GOLD event only unless tournament committee allows their participation in other category.
  • For participation in the BRONZE event, a team can have maximum 2 players with a maximum of 200 Total MPs (Federation & Local inclusive) to their credit and the remaining players should not have more than 100 Total MPs.
  • Tournament Committee has the rights to reject a player's entry to bronze event, in case it is found that the player is experienced enough in bridge circle but wants to participate in the category just because he / she is fulfilling the 0-200 MPs criteria.
  • The Bronze event will be played only if there are a minimum of 24 teams participating in the event. In case the number is less than 24, the participating teams of Bronze category will be merged with the Silver event and no separate prizes for the bronze event will be given.
  • The MPs to be considered for participation in the Silver & Bronze events will be as on 31st July 2019.
  • No entry for team event will be accepted after the stipulated closing time of 2000 hrs on Tuesday, August 2, 2019.

  • Closing time for MP Pairs entries is 1430 hrs on Tuesday, August 6, 2019
  • Closing time for MP Pairs STRATA II entries is 2030 hrs on Wednesday, August 7, 2019
  • Closing time for IMP Pairs entries is 2030 hrs on Thursday, August 8, 2019.
  • Closing time for IMP Pairs STRATA II entries is 2030 hrs on Friday, August 9, 2019.
  • Sponsor will have a quota of 2 Pairs, directly seeded to the MP Pairs Gold Final.
  • Participating players are required to take their seats as per the program; failure to do so will result in penalty.
  • Displaying of properly filled convention cards at the table is compulsory. Copies of blank Convention cards will be made available at the venue.
  • Players will be provided Lunch at the venue. Tea /coffee and snacks during scheduled

  • Players are requested not to bring Tea/Coffee/Cold drinks/Lunch inside the playing arena.

  • The applicable Conditions of Contest (COC) will be circulated before start of the tournament. Tournament will follow the WBF-2017 Laws of Duplicate Bridge.
  • The organizing committee has the right to change the tournament schedule and format, if deemed necessary.
  • All prize money will be credited to the winner bank accounts within 15-20 days of the final day of the tournament.
