The 16th HCL International Bridge Championship will be held from August 09- 14, 2018. The championship will have the following:

  • Naresh Tandan Trophy

    The 'Naresh Tandan Trophy' for the winners of Team of Four Gold event.

  • Mohini Tandan Trophy

    The 'Mohini Tandan Trophy' for the winners of Team of Four Silver event

  • Neena Bonarji Trophy

    The 'Neena Bonarji Trophy' for the winners of Open Pairs event

  • Team of Four Gold
    Team of Four Gold Event is open to all.

    The qualifying round consists of Swiss League of 10 Rounds of 10 Boards each on first two days.

  • Team of Four Silver
    Team of Four Silver Event is open to Indian Bridge players (participation of Foreign teams in this event is subject to clearance by Technical Committee).

    There can be no more than two National Masters (according to BFI master point scheme, points updated upto 31st July 2018)

  • Open Pairs
    Open Pairs Event is a match pointed pairs event which will start on third day of the tournament and will be played over 4 days.

    There are 3 eliminations consisting of 3 sessions of 18 Boards each. Top 26 pairs along

  • MP Pairs Strata-II
    MP Pairs Strata-II Event is a one day event for non-qualifiers of Open Pairs event.
    It will be played over two sessions of 24 Boards each.
  • IMP Pairs
    IMP Pairs Event is a two day event.

    The elimination round consists of 3 sessions of 18 Boards each on 5th day. IMP pairs final will be played over 2 sessions of 24 Boards each.

  • IMP Pairs Strata-II
    IMP Pairs Strata-II Event is a one day event for non-qualifiers of other events.
    It will be played over two sessions of 22 Boards each.

The tournament format and time schedules are subject to change, before or during the championship, and at the discretion of the organizing committee. This decision will be taken in consultation with the Chief Tournament Director (CTD).

SYSTEM & IMPORTANT NOTES

The tournament will follow the WBF 2018 Laws of Duplicate Bridge as amended from time to time. The Applicable Supplemental Conditions of Contest shall be circulated before the start of the tournament. WBF system policy shall be followed throughout the tournament. The Brown Sticker Conventions are not allowed in the Swiss League Stage of Team of Four Event and in Elimination Stage of Pairs events. The pairs employing Brown Sticker Conventions in the knock-out stage of Team Events must submit their convention with written defense to the CTD before the start of the last round of Swiss League Stage. Multi 2D is allowed, provided a written defense against the convention is provided to the opponents before the start of the round. Psyche of a conventional bid is not permitted at any stage of any event. Psyches are not permitted during Swiss League Stage of Team of Four Silver Event and Elimination 1 and 2 stage of Open Pairs event.

  • Closing time for IMP Pairs STRATA II entries is 2030 hrs on Monday, August 13, 2018.
  • Sponsor will have a quota of 2 Pairs, directly seeded to the Pairs Final.
  • Participating players are required to take their seats as per the program; failure to do so will result in penalty.
  • Displaying of properly filled convention cards at the table is compulsory. Copies of blank Convention cards will be made available at the venue.
  • Players will be provided Lunch at the venue. Tea /coffee and snacks during scheduled tea breaks, will also be provided.
  • Players are requested not to bring Tea/Coffee/Cold drinks/Lunch inside the playing arena.
  • For assistance in hotel accommodation, please contact SPOC's of Hotels as mentioned on the accomodation page here.
  • The applicable Conditions of Contest (COC) will be circulated before start of the tournament. Tournament will follow the WBF - 2017 Laws of Duplicate Bridge.
  • The organizing committee has the right to change the tournament schedule and format, if deemed necessary.
  • All prize money will be credited to the winner bank accounts within 15-20 days of the final day of the tournament.
